The Big Island Substance Abuse Council hosted its annual Kona Family Fun Day on March 25 at Kekuaokalani Gym-Park Complex, a community celebration to promote positive messages and provide opportunities to enhance family relationships.
More than 15 community organizations participated in providing resources and family activities. In true style, BISAC had carnival games, bouncers, giveaways, an arm-wrestling exhibition and lots of food. Hundreds of people took part in the event.
Dr. Hannah Preston-Pita, BISAC’s CEO, thanks Hawaii County Council members Karen Eoff, Maile David and Dru Kanuha for making the Kona Family Fun Day possible.
“This event was very successful and we will continue to provide this type of outreach in the future,” Preston-Pita said.
Summer Jam, BISAC’s next annual event, is scheduled for July 28-29 at Edith Kanaka‘ole Multi-purpose Stadium in Hilo.
Since 1964, the Big Island Substance Abuse Council has inspired people and families to reclaim and enrich their lives in the wake of the ravages of substance abuse and mental health.
BISAC offers a continuum of services that are culturally appropriate and aligned with the ever-changing behavioral health field.
